What it is
A lumpsum is money invested in one go and left to grow. Time does most of the work: the longer it stays, the faster it grows.
How it's worked out
Nominal Future Value = P × (1 + r)ⁿ, with P the amount, r the yearly return and n the years. Est. Returns = Nominal Future Value − P.
What each input means
- Investment Amount: The amount you invest in one go.
- Expected Return Rate (p.a.): The yearly growth % you expect. Markets go up and down, so this is a guess.
- Time Period: For how many years.
- Adjust for Inflation: Turn on to see the result in today's money, after prices rise by this % each year.
Good to know
The whole amount faces the market from day one, so a fall early on hurts more than in a SIP. The same return is assumed every year.
A quick example
₹1 lakh at 12% for 10 years grows to about ₹3.1 lakh.
